The beautiful architecture of Modena, Italy

Italian architecture is timeless, soft colors and fine facilities too little to offend and always leaves an impression on you. Modena is a city located in the center of the northwestern part of the Italian peninsula and is best known as the city of Ferrari, but it is also right in the middle of the corridor, the Italian cuisine, which extends from Bologna, the father of Italian cuisine at Parma, home of the ham and Modena. Both of these claims to fame Modena is also home to aof the most beautiful cathedrals in Italian and some beautiful architecture.

Modena has many claims to fame is not only home of Ferrari (Italians second great passion), but it was also the birthplace of the late and great world-famous Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti, and is also one of the Emilia-Romagna region of large cities Culinary, producer of the most beautiful in the world, vinegar, balsamic vinegar, among others. If you are in your food in Emilia-RomagnaItalian regions to visit.

But what is the real Modena off? Bologna has visited many years ago and was overwhelmed by its beauty that I always promised myself I would one day come to Modena. Unlike the obvious Modena knew very little, was so incredibly eager to discover more about the city of Italian architecture.

I just arrived was conducted by the central square, where you will never be in an Italian city for the first time the main square is always agood starting point. Piazza Grande, Modena's main square, and a very large Italian piazza which is home to the magnificent cathedral. It must be one of the most beautiful churches in and around one of the most beautiful I've seen around the world.

Cathedral construction began in 1099 at that time Modena was without a bishop, chosen by the Pope is not approved by the local population, and therefore the citizens of Modena, manage and pay for the church to becompleted a performance. The magnificent white stone to the outside of the cathedral were discovered during renovation of Roman tombstones, it was a surprise for the rehabilitation of workers and historians who have found inscriptions on stone. The doors are decorated with sculptures realistic, and really set the cathedral, except the great cathedrals, which generally have a flatter-dimensional sculpture. Look at the pictures in their beautiful white stone, butlooks a bit 'left to them, because the use of lead, as the eyes, the eyes staring at you from the beautiful blacks white figures are surprising.

It prides itself on both sides of the entrance of the cathedral has two fine Roman lions, the door to the Piazza Grande is guarded by two magnificent lions, this time by an Italian pink marble.

I could spend hours just looking at the cathedrals in stone carvings and engravings, I have always felt a bit 'disappointed to leave in search of a beautiful cathedral, which is not entertained with historical reliefs that tell a story. I certainly did not disappoint in Modena. On one side of the church, in an arc that connects you to a tower, there are some wood carvings are believed to be King Arthur and his knights, as well as scenes from Aesop's fables. My favorite of all was a diary that the months of the year, with an agricultural mission to Italian farmers, which will be performedmonths. Reminds me of a similar sculpture that I saw in the Palazzo Ducale in Venice.

A section was added later to the cathedral in the 13th-14th century, was made of a beautiful pink Italian marble and are of a more Gothic look of the old parts of the cathedral, but the links still love the older parts, rather looked like a bolt-on.

As with all Italian cities of the square is the main center of the city and Piazza Grande is no different.Until 1931, have built the market square in the city, but was moved to a purpose covered by the place where he still held today. Although it is not the place for the market is no longer square is still much room to meet, stroll or simply sit and enjoy a cup of espresso.

Buildings of Modena is a beautiful terracotta color, the color type, which is suitable for Italian architecture, so warm and soft to the eye. The good thing for Italy is that, althoughconnect with its heritage, the citizens of Modena for their assets to the extent that the color of all buildings shall be within the guidelines for municipal aesthetics of the city.

Walk through the narrow cobblestone streets in atmosphere of the squares sleep can adapt in the sense of Italian history are lost Modena exudes through its architecture.

Modena has an up and down in history. Modena flourished during the Roman Empire, but then went steadilydecline as a hub of power for the end of the 16th century, when the ruling d'Este had their home. The family has seen Modena fell into decline, and he realized he had potential and began to modernize the city, making it one of the greatest Italian artists.

D'Este built their home, the Palazzo Ducale (not the Venetian palace with the same name must not be confused) on top of the current slot of Modena. The spectacular palace is still there, still in its originalglory, the sad thing is that this is a spectacular Italian military academy without access to the public.

After several days spent around the beautiful city of Modena sample the magnificent architecture, I realized that I had not yet had time to look deeper into the culinary heritage of Modena.

Now this is something to look to the future.
